General Questions
What is the difference between the FlexCam Pro, T and S?
The FlexCam family differences are outlined in our comparison chart.
What viewing and/or reporting software is included with my camera purchase?
The FlexCam Pro ships with SmartView software, which offers in-depth analysis of your IR images. The FlexCam T & S cameras are shipped with FlexView & FlexView Report software. Both are provided at no additional charge. These software packages are created to run with any PC using Microsoft Windows® 98, 2000, XP or 2003 operating systems. Apple Macintosh OS9/10 and Linux platforms are not currently supported.
What else is included with my camera purchase?
In addition to your software CD, you will also receive a camera power supply, 2 batteries, a battery charger, a Compact Flash (CF) card, a USB CF card reader w/ CD and cable, a PCMCIA to CF card adapter, an RCA/RCA video cable, a neckstrap, and the following documentation: Users Manual, Software Installation Guide, Warranty Card, Warranty and License agreement, and a Declaration of Conformity.
How much water and dust will the FlexCam enclosure withstand?
The FlexCam series of cameras have passed the tests required by the IEC IP54 standard. Essentially this means that the FlexCam will operate in environments where there is dust and/or splashing water.
Which lens is right for my application?
Use our FOV Calculator to find which lens is right for your application, then order either the 10.5mm or 54mm optional lenses if the standard 20mm lens will not suit your needs.
Can I record a video of my inspections?
YES!!! All of our cameras provide a composite video output connection. The FlexCam video output is in color. You will need to choose the output format (NTSC or PAL) on the camera, and connect the video output to any other device that will record video (VHS VCR, image capture PC card, DVD recorder) or display video (video projector or monitor).
How often should I have my camera re-calibrated?
We recommend that you have your FlexCam checked for proper calibration every two years. Some ISO 9000 programs require more frequent checks to insure certification. The cost to check calibration is usually $100.00(US). If a re-calibration is necessary, the charge is typically $1250.00(US).
Can I buy batteries for the FlexCam from another vendor?
The FlexCam series of cameras ship with two proprietary batteries. If you need to purchase more, be advised that batteries from other suppliers will not work with our camera or charger. Please order your batteries (p/n 104464) directly from Infrared Solutions.

Flash Cards
What brand of Compact Flash (CF) card can I use?
We recommend using only SanDisk brand CF cards that have a 2003 or newer copyright date stamped on the back of the card. We have experienced many incompatibilities with other brands and with cards older than 2003.
How many images can I store on the Compact Flash (CF) card that came with my camera?
With a 128MB CF card, the FlexCam Pro is capable of storing in excess of 2400 images using the .IS2 format. The FlexCam T & S cameras can store approximately 1200 images using the .jpg format. Actual file sizes and card capacities will vary depending upon added annotations, and compression anomolies related to the .jpg format. If your card is larger or smaller than 128MB, adjust these totals proportionally.
I would like to purchase an additional Compact Flash (CF) card. Which size should I buy?
The FlexCam series cameras have been tested and proven to work with 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB and 1GB CF cards.
What's the best way to format my Compact Flash (CF) card?
The CF card to be used with a FlexCam can be formatted using your PC. Insert the CF card into your card reader or your PCMCIA adapter - once the card is recognized, right click on corresponding drive letter and select 'Format' from the menu list.

Lenses
Which lenses are available for the FlexCam series?
The FlexCam can be fitted with either a 20mm (standard lens), 10.5mm (wide angle - allows for viewing of close up objects) or a 54mm, (narrow Field Of View - allows you to see further distances) lens.
Use our FOV Calculator to help find which lens is right for your application!
What's the best way to clean my lens and video display?
You should always take great care whenever you touch the lens or video display. Our lens elements are fabricated from Germanium crystal, and can easily shatter, be scratched and chip. The video display is a LCD, and is also sensitive to excess pressure.
You should take the same procedures that are used for cleaning fine video and still camera lenses. Always use a non-abrasive solution marked for lens cleaning, or a mild diluted dish soap solution (never use solvents) and a soft cotton cloth. Apply only very light pressure while cleaning. Never use tissues or lens cleaning papers!!! Also, use your lens cap whenever possible to insure proper protection of the lens.
I just installed a different lens. How do I re-calibrate the camera for this lens?
Press the 'Menu' button on your camera, and select 'Camera Settings' from the menu window. Click on the 'Lens' tab, and select your lens from the pull down menu. Select the appropriate temperature calibration range, then click 'OK' from the top bar of the 'Camera Settings' window.

FlexView Software
What should I do if FlexView freezes or locks up while I'm generating a report?
Your anti-virus software may be preventing MS Word from generating a report. Try either disabling your anti-virus software while generating a report, or look for an option in your anti-virus software that enables "Word Macros" or "Word Automation". Remember to restore your anti-virus software to it's original configuration after you have printed your reports.
FlexView generates an error message when I try to generate a report. How do I fix this error?
Due to conflicts with MS Office, you may experience this error. First, try 'Detect and Repair' from the 'Help' menu of MS Word. Be aware that you may need the original installation disc for MS Office in order to complete this process. If that does not correct the problem, try using our Word Repair software program to remedy the situation.
My report wizard is not working at all. Do I need additional software?
While you will be able to use FlexView and FlexView Report to view images, Microsoft Word® software is required to use the report wizard from within FlexView and FlexView Report.
How do I set up my PC for storing and accessing camera images?
We recommend you first create a folder that's easy to remember - something like C:\FlexCamFiles, and use subfolders to separate out customers or jobs - for example C:\FlexCamFiles\Job1 - then select this folder as your destination directory during the process of downloading the files to your PC.
NOTE: You will need to 'drag and drop' or 'copy and paste' your image files manually after connecting with the CF card - simply inserting the flash card into your card reader will not automatically copy the files to your PC!
Where does FlexView and FlexView Report store the reports I generated?
By default, FlexView and FlexView Report will put any reports back into the same directory where the image is stored. If you would like them stored somewhere else, you will need to specify the destination from the report save window.
